  • Description: The biggest photo sharing site, Flickr, had this idea about videos being LARGE sets of PHOTOS, and hence decided letting its users to upload videos. To date Flickr gives out 1 Terabyte of storage for free!

Limitations (read this):

  • NEW: 1 TeraByte of photo and video storage.
  • Maximum weigh of 200 MB per photo. Images can be no more than 31.25 times wider than they are tall.
  • Maximum length of 180 seconds for all accounts. It is possible to upload videos longer than 180 seconds, but only the first 180 seconds will play.
  • Individual video files must be smaller than 1GB in size.
  • Free account holders can upload HD 1080p videos (High-Definition with 1080 pixels of vertical resolution) but HD playback will only show on upgraded accounts. Flickr keeps the original file so the HD option will automatically appear for those deciding to upgrade.
  • Embed and share videos in web pages or blog posts in the same way as Flickr photos.
  • Upload and download in full original quality.
  • Unlimited monthly bandwidth.
  • Post any of your videos in up to 60 group pools.

Accepted photo formats:

  • .JPEG
  • .PNG
  • Non animated .GIF
  • Other formats will be converted to .JPEG

Accepted video formats:

  • .MP4 (recommended with H.264)
  • .AVI (proprietary codecs may not work)
  • .WMV
  • .MOV (AVID or other proprietary codecs may not work)
  • .MPEG (1, 2, and 4)
  • .3GP
  • .M2TS
  • .OGG
  • .OGV
